So I am an introvert even though, from the outside, it does not appear so. I am irritated today because I need to move out with my kitties for a week or two.
It's of my own doing and I know it will be better in the end, but when I spend all day "on" in the clinical setting (i.e. office & coworkers) and then "on" all night in the hospital setting, I really re energize when I am have quiet and nobody talking to me.
I am having the hardwood floors refinished and the back bedrooms are done. It's time for him to literally pull the boards up in the hallway (which also happens to be my subfloor which might have been a great idea in 1950 but not so much at this moment) to repair the damage from a settling house. Then, right after that, he will refinish the hallway, closets and front end of the house.
I am already "living" on temporary furniture - borrowed box springs, a mattress, coffee table and sofa. I am living in the living room, dining room and kitchen as it is.
I just noticed a burning smell that was coming from the laundry room. At first, I thought it was the gas smell from the aging gas stove but I turned off the gas there. Then, I realized it was coming from the dryer. It was a rehabbed dryer to begin with so now it's on the way out, too.
The timing could not have been better. Perhaps the laundry machines knew there time in my house was limited and that an overhaul of the laundry room was "next."
But, I digress.
I need to pick up my kitties and go live with a friend for a week or two. I already asked my first favorite and she said absolutely yes so I definitely have a place to go.
I'm used to "living" in other places so I think it'll be ok. I don't like the idea of imposing my cats and self onto another person but she said that she enjoys company and really it will be fine.
I figure it's the best so that the cats have some temperature control, a safe place to be free from polyurethane fumes, etc. Starting Monday, the crawl space and my living room will become "one."
I posted a picture of two of the three bedrooms just to show how awesome the floors look when they are done. It WILL be worth it, this I know.
This house has become my project and although it looks very much like "a project" now, it will be a nice place to own for many years to come. My only projects left are: take down bathroom border and paint bathroom walls, remove & recaulk the shower (grout looks great still), replace vent in bathroom (simple), gut laundry room and paint, replace with stackable laundry machines & organizer, paint living room, hallway, have a tile border put in kitchen between counter top and bottom of cabinets.
And, then.
Done.
And, when frustrated and in a difficult time like right now, I go to my positive messages book and read passages. I also hear my neighbor's words Rome wasn't built in a day ...
